Governor Huntsman named Chairman of the Western Governors Association
Sunday July 6, 2008
Governor Jon M. Huntsman Jr. was named chairman of the Western Governors Association and his first act was to challenge the Association to formulate a comprehensive climate and energy change blueprint to present to the next White House. This comes on the heels of a change to the work week for several Utah State employees. Huntsman announced the four day work week earlier this month.Huntsman says that the four day work week will save energy by cutting down on employee's commuting time from five days a week to four, save on energy used in State offices and will assist those needing government services after normal business hours. The announcement has been met with mixed reactions. Some believe the ten-hour days will be an unnecessary strain on the State workers while others laud the longer hours, which means they won't need to use a lunch break to run errands such as renewing their drivers licenses.
