The Leonardo Announces Capecchi as Adviser, Sets Opening Date

Salt Lake City is one step closer to getting its new science, technology and art museum, The Leonardo. Leonardo organizers announced yesterday that Nobel Prize-winning geneticist Mario Capecchi of the University of Utah will join the museum's organization as an adviser. Capecchi will advise the Leonardo's board on content and programming for the museum.
Capecchi said he hopes the museum will become an important center of science information and education. "The Leonardo will be an important element in the future education of our community, state, and region," he said. The museum is set to open in the former Salt Lake City Main Library building on Leonardo Da Vinci's 559th birthday, April 15, 2011.
In the meantime, Salt Lakers can continue to visit the city's other great science-related museums, a few of which are featured in my new article listing Salt Lake City's free museums. It's the first of about a dozen articles I'm planning on free things to do in the Salt Lake City area. As I plan the series, I'd love your input.
