Hale Centre Theatre, with locations in West Valley City and Orem as well as in Gilbert, Arizona, is a venerable Salt Lake area institution and a reliable source of family entertainment. The original Hale Centre Theatre started in Salt Lake City in 1985 and was housed in an old lingerie factory with used seats and low-budget sets. Its productions were popular, though, and in 1998 the company moved into a beautiful, high-tech theater in West Valley City. Hale Centre Theatre's small size and multi-level, round rotating stage keep audience members close to the action.
HTC emphasizes family entertainment. You won't find edgy material here--mainly popular musicals and comedies, with some original productions. Ticket prices are relatively low - $26 for adults and $15 for children.
HCT's West Valley theater debuts a new production of the 80s-inspired Broadway musical The Wedding Singer starting Tuesday, June 15 and continuing through Saturday, July 31. The Wedding Singer features elaborate lighting and a Plexiglas transparent floor, giving the theater a dance club feel.
