Salt Lakers know Salt Lake City has some of the best community spirit in the country, and now we have a chance to prove it to the rest of the nation with VH1's "Do Something Awards." The Do Something Awards honor young people's commitment to social change and will air live July 19, 2010 on VH1 at 8 p.m. MST.
Salt Lake City has been nominated with an award because of our city's high rate of volunteerism. Other city nominees include Austin, Texas for its car sharing programs; Portland, Oregon for its emphasis on eating local; Greensburg, Kansas for its leadership in sustainable living; and Boston, Massachusetts for educational innovations. The city with the highest number of online votes will receive the award July 19.
