It's unseasonably hot this week in Salt Lake City, but that hasn't kept the leaves in Utah's mountains from putting on their spectacular fall color. Fall colors are nearing their peak in the Wasatch, and the next couple of weeks should be an excellent time for a scenic mountain drive.
Here's a list of fall color tours put together by the Utah Travel Council. Some of my favorites near Salt Lake City are Bountiful Peak Drive, Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, Parley's Canyon to Emigration Canyon, Kamas to Mirror Lake, and Guardsman's Pass. If you have time for a weekend trip to southern Utah, October is one of the best times of year to go.
