Weekend Plans: Theater Thrills

Halloween is a mere ten days away, and this weekend seems like a good time to get your goosebumps on with one of these fun and scary Utah theater productions:

  • Tired of sparkly vampires? Pioneer Theatre Company presents its own original adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula starting Friday, Oct. 22 and continuing through Nov. 6. This adaptation premiered at Pioneer Memorial Theatre in 1990 and has since been produced by over a dozen regional theater companies.

  • Another Dracula adaptation is also on stage at the Springville Playhouse, Utah's oldest continuously operating theater company. Culminating in a wild and shocking confrontation, this adaptation is an action-packed, blood-soaked retelling of Bram Stoker's classic tale of horror.
  • One of Utah's favorite dance events, Odyssey Dance Theatre's Thriller, is performing now through Oct. 30 at Kingsbury Hall and other locations. Featuring laughs, screams and amazing dance moves, Thriller is a beloved Halloween tradition.

  • Even little ones can experience Halloween chills with The Children's Theatre production of Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles, now through Oct. 30. Recommended for ages six and older.
