Real Salt Lake will advance to the MLS Western Conference finals after defeating the Seattle Sounders 3 goals to 2 in a 2-game series, which ended last night at CenturyLink Field in Seattle in soggy conditions. It was all defense last night for RSL, who went into the second leg of the series with a 3-0 lead and merely needed to keep the Sounders from scoring three goals. Seattle managed two goals, one on a penalty kick by Oswaldo Alonso. For RSL fans, the best play of the game came when Tony Beltran made a fantastic head save in the goal to deflect what looked like a sure shot by Jeff Parke in the 36th minute.
The Western Conference Final game will be played Sunday, Nov. 6 when RSL takes on the Los Angeles Galaxy in Los Angeles. TV coverage at 7 p.m. MT on ESPN.
