Real Salt Lake opened its 2012 regular MLS season with a huge 3-1 victory in Los Angeles vs. LA Galaxy March 10.
LA is the favorite to win the MLS Western Conference, with RSL close behind. RSL's all-time record against Galaxy is 7-8-6, including RSL's 5-4 victory over the Galaxy in the 2009 MLS cup championship, and last year's 3-1 loss in the Western Conference finals.
RSL will play 34 games over the course of the regular MLS season, but the season may stretch to as many as 50 games after adding in the CONCACAF Champions League and Lamar Hunt U.S. open Cup. Staying injury-free will be a key for veteran-heavy RSL, who have ten players in their fifth or sixth season with the club.
Next up for RSL is the team's home opener vs. the New York Red Bulls Saturday, March 17 at 8 p.m. vs. the New York Red Bulls at Rio Tinto Stadium.
