2012 Fireworks Laws More Restrictive

Hot, dry weather and the Utah State Legislature will make this year's fireworks season a little less explosive than last year's, with fewer days to ignite fireworks and local bans in areas of high fire danger. The 2012 legislature amended last year's law so that Utahns are allowed to discharge fireworks July 1-7, July 21-27, December 31, and Chinese New Year.

Many Utah residents have enjoyed lighting aerial fireworks that were legalized last year, but Smith's stores have decided not to sell aerial fireworks, citing dry weather and fire danger. Fireworks are banned in most bench and foothill areas, so check the Utah Department of Public Safety website for information on bans in your area.

I hate fire works so much, that I just wish Utah could just ban them for good. They upset animals and make my ears hurt that I feel like I’m going to lose my hearing, and there are a lot of people that have had their hearing damaged due to fireworks and I have to say, Utah firework laws next year should ban them for good.

There isn’t anything wrong with fireworks. Make sure precautions are taken.

Lots of reasons to NOT use fireworks …
it starts fires causing property damage, wildlife damage, puts people at health risk, drives up insurance premiums.

Is there a single substantial reason to use fireworks?
celebrate our independence? I think a flag in your yard says volumes.
that path is also a great way to show you are a considerate neighbor and considerate human.

Let’s ban everything that everyone hates instead of being tolerant…Lets ban fast food joints because you can’t control your kids…Lets ban porn because you can’t control your husband…Lets ban guns because you are afraid of them…Lets ban Christmas themes from public places because you don’t believe in Christ…Lets just ban freedom of choice all together!!! AND FOR THE RECORD…MOST OF THE FIRES IN UTAH WERE NOT STARTED BY FIREWORKS!!!
