
Summer in Utah is so beautiful it makes many of us want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. It's important to be prepared for summer heat, though, because high temperatures and sun exposure can turn a pleasant outing or a nice workout into a miserable and even dangerous experience. I was reminded of this fact not long ago when I went on a long hike wearing heavy, sweat-absorbing jeans - definitely not the most comfortable hot-weather attire.
While it's probably best to stay indoors during periods of extreme heat, it's possible to exercise outdoors on most summer days. A little knowledge, preparation and planning can help you stay safe and relatively comfortable when exercising in hot weather.
