
Thirteen films from the 2012 Sundance Film Festival were nominated for Oscars today, most notably 2012 Grand Jury Prize winner Beasts of the Southern Wild, which was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress. Nine-year-old Best Actress nominee Quvenzhané Wallis is the youngest person ever to be nominated in the Best Actress category. Wallis was only five when she auditioned for the role. SLC locals will have a chance to catch a free screening of Best Song nominee Chasing Ice April 11 at the Veridian Library and Event Center in West Jordan.
