By January 17, 2013

Follow me on:

Martin Luther King day is Monday, Jan. 21, and Dr. King will be remembered at events throughout the Salt Lake Valley starting this weekend. Highlights include a week-long commemoration at the University of Utah, with a keynote speech by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, an MLK Day concert presented by Murray City, and an appearance by comedian Corey Zooman Miller, one of the country's best Barack Obama impersonators.

Rev. Jackson's speech at the Huntsman Center is sold out, but you can watch online by clicking the link below. The speech is Thursday, Jan. 24, starting at 12 noon.

However you're spending your day Monday, take a little time to appreciate the accomplishments of the Civil Rights movement. Appropriately President Barack Obama will be sworn in for his second term at 9:30 Mountain on Martin Luther King Day.
