With the holidays approaching, November is a great time for musical events, so there are plenty of those on the list this month. It's also Jazz basketball season and time for Utah's biggest sporting event of the year, Utah vs. BYU football.

Note: While there are some Thanksgiving and Christmas events on the November list, Thanksgiving Day events aren't listed here. Click here for a list of Salt Lake City Thanksgiving Day Events. There's also a separate list of Salt Lake Valley Veterans Day events.

2. They Might Be Giants

Alternative rock legends and 2009 Grammy winners They Might Be Giants will be performing their breakthrough album "Flood" in its entirety.

3. Brahms' "Piano Concerto No. 1" at the Utah Symphony

With 21 Grammy nominations, Pinchas Zuckerman has made a lasting impression on the music world as both a soloist and conductor. In this all-Brahms concert, he’ll lead the orchestra in Brahms’ impassioned Piano Concerto No. 1.

4. University of Utah Football and Utah's "Holy War"

The Utes finish out their Mountain West Conference schedule this month and take on their two toughest opponents, TCU and BYU, on the road.

5. "Dinosaurs of the Lost Continent," a Free Public Lecture by Dr. Scott D. Sampson

Utah Museum of Natural History research curator Scott Sampson will kick off the national tour for his new book, Dinosaur Odyssey, with a public lecture for paleontology fans of all ages. Sampson has played a vital role in discovering new dinosaur species, particularly in Southeastern Utah.

Sampson was the primary scientific consultant and on-air host of a four-part Discovery Channel series called Dinosaur Planet. He currently appears as a host on Jim Henson's Dinosaur Train, a new children's TV series for PBS Kids.

6. Disney on Ice: Princess Classics

See all of your favorite princess characters come to life when "Disney on Ice: Princess Classics" returns to EnergySolutions Arena.

7. Jewish Arts Festival: "Comics and Comedians"

This year's theme for the Jewish Arts Festival is "Jewish Comics and Comedians." The Saturday Night opening show includes author J.T. Waldman and comedian Michele Balan. Appetizers by Mazza Restaurant.

The Sunday festival includes music performances, workshops, martial arts demonstrations, dances, caricaturists, storytelling, kid's art activities, a Jewish Book, a comic book fair and delicious Jewish delicacies. Come dressed as your favorite Superhero.
