The shortest month of the year isn't short on fun Salt Lake City events. Here are a few of the guide's top picks. The list keeps evolving, so check back for more events as the month progresses.

1. 2002 Olympics Tenth Anniversary Celebrations

Ten years ago this month, Salt Lake City had never looked better, and a world recovering from the shock of 9/11 was ready to embrace the Olympic spirit. Now, Utah is ready to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games with events in Park City, Salt Lake City, and at each of the Olympic venues beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1 and culminating in a street festival and ice show Saturday, Feb. 18.

  • Park City Community Celebration: Wednesday, Feb. 1, 5-9 p.m., Park City Main St. (Free)
  • Relighting the flame at the Olympic Cauldron Park: Wednesday, Feb. 8. Flame will stay lit until Feb. 11.
  • Utah Olympic Park Community Celebration: Thursday, Feb. 9, 5-6 p.m., Utah Olympic Park in Park City (Free)
  • Kearns Olympic Park Community Celebration: Friday, Feb. 17, 6-9 p.m., Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns (Free)
  • 10-Year Anniversary Olympic Sports Festival: Saturday, Feb. 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Gateway (Free)
  • A Tribute to 2002 With Stars on Ice: Saturday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m., EnergySolutions Arena (Tickets $20-$125)

2. Oddysey Dance Theatre: "Shut Up and Dance"

Odyssey's "Shut Up and Dance" festival includes three rotating shows, "Dancescapes," "Sledgehammer," and "Romeo + Juliet." Featuring dancers and choreographers from the popular FOX TV seris: "So You Think You Can Dance."

4. FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships

The world's best freestyle ski athletes will compete in Park City at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships Feb. 1-4, 2012. Events include include aerial, moguls, and dual moguls. This year's competition also features a 2002 Olympic anniversary celebration on Park City's Main Street Wednesday, Feb. 1 beginning at 5 p.m.

All events free to the public. The events will be televised on NBC Feb. 11 and on VERSUS Feb. 11 and 18.

5. Winter Wednesdays and Free Scout Day at Tracy Aviary

Tracy Aviary offers free admission every Wednesday throughout January and February. "Free" admission requires a $1 conservation fee per person.

In addition, the aviary will offer free admission to scouts in uniform Saturday, Feb. 25. Scout day includes special demonstrations and keeper talks, plus free Girl Scout cookies while supplies last.

Tracy Aviary is located at 589 East 1300 South in the southwest corner of Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. It is accessible from the northern entrance of the park located at 900 South. Phone: 801-596-8500

6. 'CSI: Provo' at Desert Star Playhouse
