The Utah Film Center is a major provider of free film screenings in Salt Lake City and throughout Utah, including free movies at the Salt Lake City Public Library, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the Gallivan Center and elsewhere. Check their website for lots of free, interesting movies all year long.

The Salt Lake City Public Library offers free film screenings in the main auditorium, including "Savvy Senior Movies" the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 2 p.m., and "Science Movie Night" the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Natural History Museum of Utah

The Natural History Museum, in partnership with the Utah Film Center, presents a free Science Movie Night every month. A free screening of a science-related movie is followed by a lively discussion with a knowledgeable scientist.

7. Sundance Film Festival Best of the Fest

Each year after the Sundance Film Festival, the Sundance Institute presents complimentary screenings of award-winning films in Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden and Sundance Resort. Tickets are distributed for one day only on a first-come, first-served basis at festival box offices. Check the website in December each year to find out the distribution date for January's free screenings.
