Guide Review - Elizabeth's Bakery and Tea Shop in Salt Lake City - A Review of Elizabeth's
Food and Treats at Elizabeth's
I discovered I am not a meat pie fan at Elizabeth's, but I enjoyed the Cornish Pasty and Sausage Roll. The chunks of meat in the beef and onion pie were too hard and chewy for my taste.
Once I hit the pastries though, there were no complaints. The jam tarts had a pleasing, flaky crust and the Trifle with raspberries and clotted cream were a hit with our party. I fell in love with the inexpensive Buttertart Squares. The Chocolate Crunch was a little too hard and fell apart in our hands.
Teas and Drinks
Tea doesn't come in a prepackaged bag here at Elizabeth's. You'll get traditional English teas here. If you are not a tea drinker, Elizabeth's offers a selection of organic fruit juices served in tiny teapots. My children loved the blackberry and barley mix.
The Decor
Teapots were everywhere. We enjoyed the sparse surroundings, recognizing the exposed brick and bare wood floors to be distinctly English. There is a couch in the corner with a coffee table that makes the place cozy and welcoming. I would enter from the front although the parking is at the back. The back entrance gives you a direct view into the kitchen which detracts from the overall experience.
If you get a chance, head next door to the London Market for a nibble at their wax-free chocolates and to buy your own clotted cream to make a Trifle at home.
