Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11, 2013. Here are a few of the special events planned to honor veterans in the Salt Lake area.

Veterans Day at the University of Utah

Monday, Nov. 11 2013

8:45-10:15 a.m.

Panel Discussion: "Women in Combat Arms"
Union Ballroom, Student Union Building

11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Full Dress Military Ceremony and Rifle Salute
Union Ballroom, Student Union Building

The ceremony will pay tribute to 11 Utah veteran honorees, who will receive honorary medallions followed by a cannon salute.

7 p.m.

58th Annual Veterans Day Concert
Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band With Granite District High School Choir
Jon M. Huntsman Center

Taylorsville Veterans Day Parade and Program

Monday, Nov. 11, 2013

11 a.m.

Veterans Day Parade, Taylorsville City Hall, 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd.

12:15 p.m.

Taylorsville's Veteran's Day program includes a WWII and Korean War display as well as Flags of Honor. Taylorsville City Hall, 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd.

Military Appreciation Day at Hogle Zoo

Military personnel, veterans and their families receive free admission to Hogle Zoo all day Monday, Nov. 11. Please show military or veteran ID.

Free Meals and Discounts for Veterans

Some of the Salt Lake area restaurants offering free or discounted meals for veterans include Golden Corral, Applebees, Red Robin, and Outback Steakhouse. Check website for details.
