Pros

  • The Community Center will cater to a larger segment of the population, including seniors.
  • Library space will increase and the library will share meeting room space with the community service section of the center.
  • There will be more exercise equipment and space for aerobic classes.
  • Another 100 parking spaces will be added, making a total of 200 parking spaces available.

Cons

  • The one-story building will sprawl. Planners are looking at two-story options but say there may not be enough money to develop.
  • Residents requested a swimming pool but County planners say adding this service would be too expensive.
  • There will be no daycare facilities. Parents who want to work out would have to find other options.

Where it Stands

Residents are invited to a public workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 to help developers finalize the Master Plan. The workshop will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Evergreen Jr. High School on 3401 S. 2000 East.
