Introducing Bonneville Hills:

Bonneville Hills is a classic Salt Lake City suburb. The neighborhood is walkable and friendly to bikers. The Foothill Village shopping district and a group of eclectic restaurants and art galleries on 1300 East and 2100 South make Bonneville Hills a destination for Salt Lake City residents.

Who Lives in Bonneville Hills?:

Several of the area's original residents still reside in Bonneville Hills. Many citizens are on fixed-incomes, living out their retirement in homes they grew up in. The homes were often built by their original owners and many have been passed down from generation to generation. Because of it's proximity to both the University of Utah and Westminster College, many students rent and then choose to make their homes in Bonneville Hills. Tree-lined streets border manicured lawns, proving that pride of ownership is still strong in this suburb.

What's Unique About Bonneville Hills?:

Bonneville Hills' appeal lays in the sense of community and ease of access to other areas of Salt Lake City. Bonneville Hills is within short reach of downtown, Parley's Canyon and most of the major freeways. The neighborhood is extremely convenient for bicyclists and runners with several defined paths and lanes for both.

Things to Do:

Bonneville Hills is mostly a residential community. However, the Foothill Shopping District features upscale boutiques, spas and a variety of restaurants. The Don Brady Drive Through Gallery on 1300 East and 2100 South is an art gallery you can browse without getting out of your car.

Good Eats:

Mac Cool's Public House is a family-friendly Irish pub serving traditional Irish food paired with plenty of local micro-brews. Red Butte Café is known for it's trendy southwestern salads and sandwiches. East-West Connection serves Vietnamese food and Thai Bangkok serves a nice selection of Thai food. For more casual eats, head to TGIF Fridays, Subway or order pizza from Dominos. On 1300 East and 2100 South, check out the Pinon Market & Café.

Drink & Entertainment:

On Thursday's Mac Cool's offers $2 Squatters or Wasatch micro brew pints and serves spicy Bloody Mary's on Saturdays. Sunday brunch features live music from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. TGIF Fridays has a nice bar and fine wine is served at Five All's.

Kids will enjoy Color Me Mine in the Village, where they can paint and fire their own ceramics. Upstairs is Little Gym, where parents can sign their tots up for tumbling classes or host a birthday party.

Shopping:

Foothill Village features an eclectic shopping experience. Parents should browse Nifty Thrifty toys for quality, educational products. Gold & Diamonds is a respected jewelry outlet and several clothing boutiques are pricey but well worth a look. Dan's Foods is the most convenient grocery store in the area for those living above Foothill Boulevard and near the University of Utah.

Down on 2100 South and 1300 East, browse Pinon Market & Cafe or grab a cup of joe at the Top Stop on the corner. Drop your clothes off at one of the two dry-cleaners and admire the exotic flowers at Orchid Dynasty.

How to Get to Bonneville Hills:

Take I80 East to the Foothill Blvd. exit and go north until you reach Foothill Village at 1300 South.

From downtown, simply head up 400 South until the road curves onto Foothill Blvd. Go south until you reach 1300 South.
